Prohibits operation of any freight or work train carrying hazardous material that exceeds 8,500 feet in length on any part of a main track or branch line.

Prohibits railroad to operate, or permit to be operated, any freight or work train carrying hazardous material that exceeds eight thousand five hundred feet in length on any part of a main track or branch line.

Any railroad or person who willfully violates or orders someone else to violate the provisions of this section is guilty of a class D misdemeanor for a first offense and punished by a fine not to exceed $500; class C misdemeanor for a second offense and punished by a fine not to exceed $700; and class B misdemeanor for a third or subsequent offense and shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $1,000.
