Codifies and clarifies the CA Supreme Court decision to establish the “ABC test” to classify workers as independent contractors.

It adds to state law the “ABC test” adopted by the California Supreme Court this past spring in its decision involving Dynamex, a package and documents delivery company that converted all of its drivers to independent contractors. In April, the Supreme Court established an “ABC test” to classify workers as independent contractors. This bill would state the intent of the legislature to include provisions in the bill that would codify the decision in the Dynamex case and clarify its application.
